Cro Magnon Man Portrait

This is my artistic reconstruction of a Upper Paleolithic human specimen labeled “Cro-Magnon I” who would have lived in what is now France around 28,000 years ago. One of the skull’s most remarkable characteristics is a prominent chin, and I wanted that to be apparent in my reconstruction. The chin (or mental protuberance), by the way, is one of the distinguishing traits of the modern human species (Homo sapiens) that set us apart from other hominin species.
