Meet George Kenner and Ay’vak, the two leads of my in-progress “romantic comedy” novel My Girlfriend from 300,000 BC. Ay’vak is a specimen of early Homo sapiens from East Africa around 300,000 years ago who gets frozen in a mountain glacier and then thaws out in the American Museum of Natural History in New York City. As George, a young museum docent and anthropology student, helps Ay’vak adapt to modern life, the two develop a close bond…much to the chagrin of George’s jealous ex Joanne Fang, who is not afraid to take advantage of her billionaire father’s mafia connections.
