Zhuchengtyrannus versus Sinoceratops

73.5 million years ago in Late Cretaceous East Asia, the tyrannosaurid Zhuchengtyrannus magnus subdues a Sinoceratops zhuchengensis with its powerful jaws. Both of these dinosaurs’ fossil remains have been uncovered near the city of Zhucheng in China’s Shandong province. With a body length of 36 feet and a mass nearing five and a half tons, Zhuchengtyrannus along with the more northerly Tarbosaurus is a particularly close relative of the famous Tyrannosaurus rex within the tyrannosaurid family. Sinoceratops on the other hand belongs to the centrosaurine branch of the ceratopsian family tree alongside Styracosaurus, Centrosaurus, and Pachyrhinosaurus.
