As another celebration of Black History Month in 2019, I have drawn Mansa Musa (d. 1332 AD), the Emperor of Mali who may have been the richest man that ever lived. This is the dude who gave away so much gold en route to Mecca that he ended up depressing its value. This flamboyant display of generosity may not have been a wise fiscal decision on his part, but he is also remembered as a successful conqueror as well as a patron of the arts and architecture back in Mali.
