Itaweret is the proud and headstrong young daughter of the Great Chief (governor) Mahu of Per-Pehu, a Kemetian colony on the coast of what will someday be known as Greece. As the appointed High Priestess of the Temple of Mut, she serves her goddess with the utmost piety, but she doesn’t let her responsibilities get in the way of leisure time spent playing the game senet with her younger brother Bek. When the warlord Scylax of Mycenae sacks Per-Pehu and enslaves its inhabitants, it is up to Itaweret, following Mut’s guidance, to save what remains of her people.
