This couple represents the Neolithic inhabitants of Anatolia (modern Turkey), who were one of several populations developing agriculture in western Asia after 10,000 years ago. These Neolithic Anatolians would thereafter disperse into the subcontinent of Europe, bringing their farming way of life with them while absorbing indigenous hunter-gatherers. Ancestry from these people is ubiquitous throughout western Eurasia today, but has a particular predominance in Southern Europe and the Mediterranean basin.
